About Daniel Fletcher
Daniel Fletcher was a former student of Grovedale College between 1987 – 1992 and excelled in both his educational and sporting pursuits. Daniel was of outstanding character, a dedicated student, a committed sportsman and a loyal friend to many.
Unfortunately, Daniel passed away from a tragic accident in October of 2015 at the age of 41. Until the day of his death, Daniel was extremely committed to his career, his sporting roles in football and his wife & friends. He is someone that we feel lived a full life with outstanding values and as a result of the impact he had on those around him, a group of his friends created a scholarship which is named in his honour so we can remember his name for many years to come.
The Scholarship
The Daniel Fletcher Scholarship acknowledges and rewards the efforts of the most outstanding student within the Sports Academy Program at Years 9, 10 & 11.
The program rewards the students as follows:
- Year 9 Daniel Fletcher Award to assist with following year academy fees, uniforms, development, etc.
- Year 10 Daniel Fletcher Award to assist with following year academy fees, uniforms, development, etc.
- Year 11 Daniel Fletcher Scholarship to assist with Year 12 studies, uniform, books, extra – curricular activities etc., and is rewarded to the student that excelled over all 3 years.
Criteria for Selection
The criteria is a strong blend of the Sports Academy Program values and that of the values which strongly represented Daniel Fletcher. The criteria is used by the Grovedale College Sports Academy staff to make a recommendation to the family of the proposed recipients.

Recognition
An honour’s board is located in the school gym corridor alongside other awards boards and the recipient of the Daniel Fletcher Scholarship is noted on a yearly basis.
